Prayer for Police OfficersPosted: 09-Apr-2019
How Your Church Can Help
Your Church Can Pray
Please consider praying for the men and women who risk their lives to keep our communities safe. Law enforcement officers face numerous threats and dangers on a daily basis.
In 1961, President John F. Kennedy issued an Executive Order declaring May 15 National Peace Officer Day and the week of May 15 as National Police
Week. In Colorado, a number of different police agencies undertake special events honoring fallen officers and thanking both current and
retired officers for their service to the community.
Since Colorado territorial days in 1859, it is estimated that as many as 20,000 Colorado citizens have served their communities as Sheriffs, police
officers, special officers etc.
In an effort to build awareness of Police Week and help gain greater appreciation and understanding among the community about the duties, responsibilities,
and sacrifice that officers make in safeguarding life and property, we are asking you to consider a special prayer for current, retired, and fallen officers during your services at the beginning of Police Week on Sunday, May 12, 2019.
During this era in our nation’s history, building strong ties between our communities and our police agencies is critical to the long-term success
of our nation and our freedom.
